Wisdom Personified

We’ve been talking about advice, common sense, blame, and wisdom. One meaning of wisdom is scary. It is ‘an opinion that almost every one shares or expresses!’ But what if the ‘every ones’ are wrong?

Proverbs chapter one gives a clear meaning of wisdom. It says that wisdom is calling us in the public square. She calls from the city walls. So obviously wisdom is available to all of us. Wisdom calls us to repent and if we do…

Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. (Proverbs 1:23, NIV)

But what if we don’t repent?

“Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me,
since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.(Proverbs 1:28-31, NIV)

And you say, where do I find this wisdom? I haven’t heard the call at all. Oh, dear friends, you surely have, for wisdom is The Lord Jesus Christ and he is calling you to repentance and forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Why not answer the call today?

… in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2b-3, NIV)

Prayer – Lord, call louder please. Some of us aren’t hearing. Amen
