Wise Words

One of the first books I read as a new Christian was ‘The Pursuit of Holiness’ by Jerry Bridges.

Jerry Bridges is an evangelical Christian author, speaker and staff member of The Navigators. He’s written several books, including The Pursuit of Holiness, which has sold more than one million copies.

Try a few of his words for yourself.

“I realize anew that, just as we must learn to obey God one choice at a time …we must also learn to trust God one circumstance at a time. …..Trusting God is not a matter of my feelings but of my will.

“I never feel like trusting God when adversity strikes, but…….. I can choose to do so even when I don't feel like it.  That act of the will, though, must be based on belief, and belief must be based on truth.”

So is our act of the will based on belief and that belief based on truth?

And He marveled because of their unbelief (their lack of faith in Him). (Mark 6: 6a AMP)

Prayer- Lord, examine us and show us the results Lord…are we living life in your strength, your truth? If not, correct us and set us aright. In Christ, Amen.
