God’s Wonderful Words Of Life

Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.–Deuteronomy 11:19

Words of Life – Hymn written by Philip P. Bliss (1838-1876)

Sing them over again to me,
wonderful words of life;
let me more of their beauty see,
wonderful words of life;
words of life and beauty
teach me faith and duty.

Refrain:
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.

This is one of the songs my oldest daughter is learning to play on the piano. The tune and the words echo in my mind daily as a constant reminder of how important God's Words are to our lives.

There are several scripture references that come to mind:

  • Psalm 119:105 (NIV): “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
  • 2 Timothy 3:15-17 (NIV): ” and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Take time each day to read and meditate on God's “wonderful words of life”. When trials and tribulations come, may the Scriptures flow through your soul in comfort and guidance. When times of praise and pejoicing are upon you, may your heart resound in praise for the One who gives us life. In all that you do and everything that comes your way, may you be equipped by the wonderful word of life. Remember always, He loves you.
