Working for Jesus

We writers often feel like failures because we haven’t written a full-length novel. Wendy Elaine Nelles, writing instructor and co-founder of The Word Guild insists “there are many more possibilities.  God can use us in a myriad of ways.”

There is no shame in preparing the church bulletin, or starting a blog. Who doesn’t treasure scribbled encouraging notes from friends and family? More people read our everyday words than will ever read a bestseller.

Somehow we’ve come to believe that only Christian ‘bigwigs’ count in God’s economy. We act as if running international missions or starring in Christian TV shows, or running megachurches are the only jobs that God appreciates.

Writing is like any other God-given gift. Our job is to use it where we are…to do what only we can do. Anything beyond that is up to God.

Prayer- Lord, May we never despise our days of small beginnings. (Zechariah 4:10) Amen.
