Today I found myself mindlessly humming this tune.
‘You’re nobody ’til somebody loves you
You’re nobody ’til somebody cares.’
Originally Dean Martin made it popular; Michael Bublé recently brought it back to life.
My first thought was “My dear husband is gone and nobody loves me anymore.”
Then I gave my head a shake. I have loving family members, dear friends, and neighbors. Of course, somebody loves me! And what if they didn’t? I remembered God, who loves every single one of us, even me. Why, He loved us before we were even born! And I said a grateful prayer of thanks.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:8-10)
Oh, what great love the Father lavishes on us, that we should be called his children! (1 John 3:1)
