So yesterday I offered you this salvation prayer. Some of you did not pray it because????
a. Is it the word itself… prayer? I doubt it. Prayer is common now, even from unbelievers.
b. Is it that you do not believe Christ is the Son of God or that he died on the cross? These are all
historical truths. Check for yourself.
c. It can’t be the -rose from the dead part…so well documented in so many places including
1 Corinthians 15:6, NIV. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
d. Oh I have it…it must be the part about come into my life, forgive my sin? Make me a member
of your family? I doubt that. Who doesn’t want to be forgiven? I bet it is the part that says
“I now turn from going my own way. Ah ha- you like your sin, Right?
The truth is that once Christ comes to live in us by way of the Holy Spirit, our wants, desires
and sins no longer appeal to us. Fear not that one!
e. And gifts? Who doesn’t like gifts? And when we pray this prayer God gives us eternal life and
His Holy Spirit to live in us so that we can enjoy this new living.
Let’s try this again shall we?
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10, NIV)
So—One more time folks—Your chance to have a relationship with Jesus, the Christ.
Prayer- Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross –to pay the price for my sin.
I believe that you rose from the dead —-and that you’re alive right now.
Please come into my life. Forgive my sin.
Make me a member of your family. I now turn from going my own way.
I want you to be the center of my life. Thank you for your gift of eternal life and for your Holy Spirit who has come to live in me. Amen.
