Marty Robbins Song- You Gave Me a Mountain
The song records all the struggles of one person’s life. He calls them hills. But when he had to face his greatest challenge the hill seemed like a mountain, one that he was sure he couldn’t climb.
Caleb’s Mountain
Here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.
Now, therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”(Joshua 14:10b-12, NKJV)
Mountains are high, rocky and dangerous. It is almost impossible to tackle them alone. We do not need to be alone.
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”(Matthew 19:26, NKJV)
Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith. (Hebrews 10:35-38a, NKJV)
Prayer- Lord, whatever mountains we face today, make your presence known to us. Remind us that we are not alone and need never be. Amen.
