Even though we know God is always with us and is looking over us, sometimes people just want someone in the flesh. There is nothing wrong with that. It only becomes a problem when people are desired more than God.
It’s in our human nature to crave people. We need to know that others care and understand. So in reality we can be Jesus with skin on to those around us.
In Matthew 25 there is the parable of the sheep and the goats. Jesus tells a story about a King (represents Jesus) who invites those into the kingdom who have provided for Him by way of food, drink, clothing and even a visitation in prison.
The righteous (represents believers) ask when they did those things for the King and His response was that when we did it “for one of the least of these brothers of mine” we did it for Him. In other words, whenever we provide help to those around us, we are doing it for Jesus.
A true believer does those things that Jesus would do if He were still here in earth. He would meet needs, minister, encourage and provide to those around Him. Since He is no longer on earth, we become the conduits to do His work.
In essence, we become His hands and feet. We don’t sit around hoping someone else will do the work. No, we make a decision to act in a way that would demonstrate the love of God to others around us.
Never underestimate the ability to make a difference in the life of another, even when you think that what you are doing is insignificant. Truly, nothing we do out of love is insignificant and we can make a powerful difference to the world around us when we become Jesus with skin on.
