Yours, Mine, and Ours

I think there is a movie by this name…where two widowed people get together and bring all their (many!)  kids into the same home, to become one family. Yikes. That takes quite a bit of effort on both sides.

This is also true when we become part of the family of God. Everyone in the family has a part to play.

That is clearly visible in these verses from Luke 22:19-20, NIV.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

Jesus gave his body and his blood on our behalf. Our part is to remember him and what he did for us by dying on the cross.

You can read the same thing in 1 Corinthians 11:24, 25.

If we take the time to remember Jesus and what he did for us, not just at communion, but every day…what a difference that will make in our lives.

Prayer- God thanks for the nudge of remembrance. Keep at it till we really get it. Amen.
