Mending Fences

You might say I am the family mender. I fix frayed edges, worn seams and make embroider patches to go over thin knees. I make all old clothing like new again.

In my study time this morning, God pointed out that we are to be quick to mend fences, (MSG) and make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:3, NIV)

Are we hanging onto grudges from years back? Neglecting to ask forgiveness for something? Expecting our own way, no matter what? Pushing another’s boundaries to the limit, sometimes just so we can irritate them? Ouch!

Hebrews 12:14: Make every effort to live in peace with everyone (EVEN WHEN WE DON”T WANT TO– italics mine!) and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (NIV)

I’m calling a few folks today and maybe even writing a letter of apology.  How about you?

Prayer: Lord, give us strength to haul out both nails and rail. Help us to rebuild our life fences with good boundaries!  In Christ’s name. Amen.
