Picky Eaters

My Dad was a strict meat and potato man and my Mom an avid gardener so we ate what we grew. We didn’t have any but the usual three or four old familiar standards like potatoes, peas, corn and a few salad greens. I spurned even some of those old familiar eats.

Yes, I used to be a picky eater. My brother ate the white of my eggs and I ate his yolks. When I found this verse I thought “God must know exactly how I feel. Egg whites, yuck!

“Can something tasteless be eaten without salt, or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
“My soul refuses to touch them; They are like loathsome food to me.(Job 6:6-7, NASB)

I was about ten when my Auntie Evelyn pointed out that as I got older and started dating, I would learn to eat other foods. Hah! I thought to myself. No way, Hosea!

And then I met my Honey who liked to drink coffee and eat carrots. Little by little I tasted other foods and found out they weren’t so bad after all.

God knows what you will really like, if only you will decide to taste.

O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! (Psalm 34:8, NASB)

How are your taste buds today?

Prayer- Lord, give us a new taste for you and your word, that we might come to know and love you more. Amen.
