Trillions. Billions. Earmarks, essential expenditures, pieces of legislation we’ve never heard of.
Government budgets can be overwhelming and confusing, which is why many of us throw up our hands, even when we know in our gut that government is not spending our tax dollars wisely.
Maybe it’s still not as interesting as the latest celebrity gossip, but we at least have a shot at some clarity on what’s going on with our money – and it would behoove us to take a look. We might be surprised – plus, it’s always nice to know what’s going on – that way maybe we can think critically about our situation the next time we hear about a “deficit-neutral” proposition.
