Said old fellow Tom, on a bright Christmas day, “If you want a fine time, give something away.”
So he sent a turkey to neighbour Mr. Price and Mr. Price thought, “What a big bird; how nice!”
And since I have this fine dinner ahead, he thought “I’ll give Mrs Lenard the chicken I bought.”
And then Mrs. Lenard, delighted I’m sure, passed Mrs. Biddle a ham with fresh cure.
And dear Mrs. Biddle decided indeed, to make a fresh cake for some children in need.
So brightened by love, they carried a slice to a very ill boy who had nothing nice.
And little sick fellow, saved all of the bits; shared them with sparrow who on his window sits.
Said little sick fellow, that bright Christmas day, “If you want a fine time, give something away.”
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38, NIV)
Prayer – Father God, may we give as you give, generously. Amen
