2 Timothy 4:2– Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching (NRSV).
Point it at the couch and change the channel. Aim for the ceiling and shut off the T.V. Our remote gadget does its job, even from the next room. What a great Christian witness it would make! Imagine what it would be like if we were like that remote, and used every opportunity to be God’s witnesses. Think about the changed lives at the office water cooler, the neighborhood gas bar or the local grocery store.
We may not share the complete Gospel every time we open our mouths, but we are capable of one liners like Maybeth and John’s. When it rains, Maybeth tells her listeners that it’s God’s garden and he can water it if he wants to! John tells his dentist to book an appointment but follows with this line. “You can mark me in but if Jesus comes back, I won’t be here!”
The world’s number one fear is public speaking. Fear of death is distant five. Will we let our fear of speaking up separate a friend from God forever?
