Dithering Don’ts

Once you are a published writer, you are accosted by all those who will never write but want to publish a book.

You will hear things like this.

I have a great plot for a book. You write it and we will split the profits.

I have all these pages of writing. I just need an editor. You look like you know how to do that.

You’ve published a book. Why not help me do mine?

Or you might have the experience of someone who has asked you about being published for the last twenty years. Do they have a manuscript? No. Do they like you to admire their work? Yes. Will they ever write a book? In my estimation, no, unless you do all the work for them.

No decision is a decision. Writing is hard work.

Dithering don’ts exist in the faith too. God calls them to live a certain way, or travel to a certain place or pray for a certain someone. They will tell you all about how God called them. They will brag about the experience, but they will never tell you how they obeyed; because they didn’t.

Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. (Hebrews 5:8)

Are you dithering or doing what God asks of you?
