Fool-ish

Today people don’t use the word ‘fool’ the same way it is used in the Bible. The Amplified Bible explains it this way.

The word “fool” in the Old Testament seldom, if ever, is used to describe the feebleminded, imbecile, idiot, or moron.

Rather, it always has within it the meaning of a rebel, especially against God and the laws of order, decency, and justice.

Notice in Proverbs how many such characteristics of rebelliousness are listed against the fool, and see God’s attitude toward them.

Surely we don’t wish to be described as fools, do we? In that case let’s beware.

Proud fools are punished for their stupid talk, but sensible talk can save your life. (Proverbs 14:3, CEV)

Prayer – Father, we don’t want to be in trouble with you!!! HELP!!! Amen
