From the Very Appearance

Proverbs 13:11Wealth [not earned but] won in haste or unjustly or from the production of things for vain or detrimental use [such as riches] will dwindle away, but he who gathers little by little will increase [his riches]. (AMP)

This week, friends offered us free tickets to see one of our favorite musicians. What a nice thought! We were pleased, that is, until we discovered that the show was at the local casino. We politely turned them down.

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which satisfieth not? Harken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good and let your soul delight itself in fatness. (Isaiah 55:2, KJV)

He who has an evil and covetous eye hastens to be rich and knows not the want that will come upon him.(Proverbs 28:22, AMP)

Abstain from the very appearance of evil (1Thessalonians 5:22, KJV)

What would the world be like, if all the money spent on gambling was used to feed the hungry, house the homeless, find cures for disease, and establish scholarships for needy students?

Prayer: Father God, help us to walk in your truth, ever mindful that we are but stewards in this world. Then, too, Lord, give us courage to walk so that others will not stumble. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
