Psalm 37:25–I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread. (NRSV)
Finally, I had a vehicle of my own, one that teenagers couldn’t wear out! I really loved my little car and so was not thrilled when Mom and Dad drove in with their expensive new car, a carbon copy of mine, (except for the price!)
Rear-ended, my car died an early death shortly after. With no money to replace it, my friend Margaret suggested that we pray for one. Half-heartedly, I agreed.
A few months later, unable to drive any longer, my dad gave me that ‘annoying’(handpicked by God, for me), car. That was in 1996. We drove that car for more than ten years. With more than 360,000 kilometers on the odometer, it looked and behaved very new and people continued to be astonished by God’s car.
Never tell anyone it can’t be done. God may have been waiting for centuries for somebody ignorant enough of the impossible, to do that very thing. (J.A. Holmes)
John 14:13, 14–I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father might be glorified in the Son. If in My name you ask me for anything, I will do it. (NRSV)
Prayer: Jehovah-Jireh, Great God, you who sees our need and wants to provide for us, forgive us for not trusting enough to ask. Amen
