So now that so many of us finally are speaking out about abuse, what is the next step? There are things we can do to stop the cycle. Here are some ideas. I look forward to hearing others.
A friend once told me the worst back-biting-office she ever worked in was full of women. Surely we can do better than that. Got your back means we are there for one another person, helping, encouraging and protecting one another.
Be one another’s ‘second’. Don’t let a friend go somewhere alone. Be kind to one another. Welcome new gals to your group. Show predators that no woman stands alone.
Warn one another. Your new sister-in-law needs to know about Uncle Fred and how to avoid him and never to leave her kids alone with him. Speak up and defend.
Protect one another. The company I work for has a rule that we always leave together and we don’t leave the parking lot till the other gal is safe in her car; the car is started and she too is on her way.
And pray, pray and pray some more.
Jesus told them…it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. He said, “There was once a judge in some city that never gave God a thought and cared nothing for people. A widow in that city kept after him: ‘My rights are being violated. Protect me!’(Luke 18:1-3, MSG)
Why? The predator is only the face of evil. Here is the truth of it.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:12-13, KJV)
Prayer- Lord help us be the kind of people who care what happens to one another and give us the courage to take a stand against evil of any kind. For Christ’s sake. Amen.
