Received an email this morning about a poll that MSNBC is conducting on its website.
The question for voters is, “Should the motto, ‘In God We Trust’ be removed from U.S currency?” As of this writing, there have been over 12 million votes cast and the votes are overwhelmingly in favor of keeping the motto on our money. In times of prosperity, it is easy to live our lives independent from God. It seems that in good economic times, there are continued rumblings about removing this motto from our currency. With the Dow Jones Industrial Average down more than 50% in less than a year and a half, perhaps people are reflecting more on where their real trust should reside.
Good points. God told Moses, “I am who I am.” That hasn’t changed.
I submitted my vote.
More than ever we need to draw closer to God and depend on Him for provision. Periodic efforts to erase Him from our nation’s culture and roots are poor attempts to make life work according to human standards. It’s good to know that the majority of people taking the poll recognize the continued need for God’s guidance and direction.
