It’s SO Hot That . . .

No doubt you are familiar with the lines people use to describe summer heat.

“It is so hot that….you can fry an egg on the sidewalk.”

“It is so hot that the dog fainted.”

“It is so hot that the river dried up.”

“It is so hot that I drank my ice cream.”

Well, it is so hot here that my watch band soaked through. That might be common news to you but it is a totally new experience for me!

Interesting how the word ‘hot’ has taken on new meaning in this extreme Ontario boiling temperature….

If you think this is hot? Well, let’s cool off by thinking of a few places that might be worse.

Sitting in a volcano?

Boiling in a Geyser?

Hell?

Matthew 10:28-And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (NSV).

Luke 12:5- But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him (NSV)!

2 Peter 2:4- For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment…..(NSV)

This is just a ‘dry’ run…be grateful for the humidity.

Prayer: Lord, help us to keep ourselves in your love, have mercy on those who doubt and save others by snatching them out of the fire. For Christ’s sake. Amen. (From Jude 20)
