Loving Ways

It’s a dangerous thing to eat with my eagle-eyed friend. She carries one of those pen cleaner things in her purse. Should you drop the smallest dribble of egg yolk on your shirt, she is after it. She has you swabbed down in a blinking of an eye. It is one of her ways of showing love.

Have you ever kept count of all the ways that God shows his love for you? People who go the extra mile for us, like my friend who keeps me clean, the one who writes thank you notes or another who hugs when we meet.

Indeed we must say thank you for the countless ways that others show their love to us. How are we at returning that love? We all have our strengths. Let’s use them to serve others in love.

We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first. (1 John 4:19, MSG)

Let’s make a special effort this week to really love in all the small ways that count.

Prayer- Lord, I am good at _______________. Show me how and where to use that talent to show love to others. Thank you! Amen.
