What are we here for? Why do we toil day after day? What's the point? God shows us in the Word over and over that we are made for Him and His glory. He has plans for us and He chose us.
“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” (NIV) (Ephesians 1:11)
“For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you” (NIV) 1 Thessalonians 1:4
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (NIV) (1 Peter 2:9)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
There's a Christian music group called Stellar Kart and they have written a song called. Something Holy. That's what we are. We are something Holy. God created each and every one of us with a plan and purpose to first, fellowship with Him, second, to worship Him, and thirdly, to glorify Him. That's it. That's why we are here.
So the next time you are wondering why you do what you do over and over and over again, ask yourself, if what you are doing is something that will glorifying Him? If it's not, then maybe some changes need to be made.
Scriptures tell us, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (NIV) Matthew 5:6. If you feel something is missing, maybe that's it. Try to a look at your world through God's eyes. Are you doing something that will glorify Him? Are you spending time with Him and in His Word? Do you pray and seek His guidance? Maybe that's what's missing. We were made for something Holy.
“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (NIV) (1 Corinthians 15:58)
