Is that you? I confess it has been occasionally me. We are so easily led astray. If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is.
For example, I recently came across a product that seemed to be free on my weight loss plan. I was so excited that I bought two boxes. Then I checked higher up. No that was misinformation and the stuff was worth half a days eating. WHAT?
The truth is that I knew in my heart that a breaded, sugared something could not possibly be a gobble-me-up-with-no-consequences but I wanted it to be so I grabbed onto my own truth.
What MY PERSONAL TRUTHS are bouncing around in your head?
Isn’t it time we took advantage of the truth of all truths so that we won’t willingly mislead ourselves?
As President Ronald Reagan said…”We trust but verify.”
In my experience, trusting to our own truth is always a big mistake.
Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.”(John 8:32b, MSG)
Prayer- Father God, you call us sheep for a reason. We are too easily led astray. Keep us in your truth, for your truth is the real thing. Amen.
