Phillip’s Cookies

James 1:17-Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (NIV).

Recipe gift jars are a wonderful way to bless family and friends without spending too much money. Our son-in-law, Philip likes this one. In a clean, dry quart jar, layer 2 cups of rolled oats, then 1 cup of coconut, 6 tablespoons cocoa and 1 more cup of oatmeal. Seal tightly. Decorate the jar and attach the following recipe.

To prepare Chocolate Do-Do’s

In a large saucepan, mix together ½ cup margarine, ½ cup milk and 2 cups granulated white sugar.

Bring to the boil and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Quickly stir in contents of jar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls on wax paper.

This makes about 36 cookies. 128 calories, 1.4 grams fat, 1.9 grams fiber each.

This is a quick, inexpensive take along for everything from an open house to a birthday party. Even non-bakers will be grateful for your thoughtful gesture. Oh, that we would remember God and His gifts so clearly, things like air to breath, and a body to breathe it.

Prayer-Father, we often thank You for the gift of Your Son and we repeat that thanks today, but we add thanks for the smaller things that we often forget to remember. In Christ’s name. Amen
