Babies make love stronger, sleep shorter, bank accounts smaller, home noisier, and the future far more interesting than we every thought.
Then toddlers start to walk and make love painful, sleep shorter, bank accounts smaller still, homes louder, and the future frightening.
Then teenagers make love challenging, sleep even shorter, bank accounts of no account, homes ear-splitting, and the future a hopeful event.
As adults, they go out on their own and love is deeper, sleep anxious, bank accounts loaned out, homes too quiet, and the future terrifying.
And we wouldn’t change a bit of it. Following the instructions in this verse will make it easier.
He planted a witness in Jacob, set his Word firmly in Israel, Then commanded our parents to teach it to their children So the next generation would know, and all the generations to come— Know the truth and tell the stories so their children can trust in God, Never forget the works of God but keep his commands to the letter. (Psalm 78:5-7, MSG)
Prayer – Lord, help us to be parents worthy of the privilege. Thank you. Amen
