Read It All

“I am hubbing you from long distance because I have a colt.” WHAT?

Seriously that is what my friend wrote this week. And I understand it this way. She is sending me a long distance wheel because she is spending too much time with her horse? How is this possible? She lives in downtown Toronto in a condo!

Then I read farther and the entire message went like this.

“I am hugging you from long distance because I have a colt.” (“That is who you speak when you are all stuffed up!”)

Oh. I get it now…I get it.

It’s a bit like all those Bible verses that we love because we only read the first bit.

Verses like…

But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. (Exodus 23:22, NASB)

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36, NASB)

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. (Hebrews 13:17, NASB)

I could name lots more but you know your own weaknesses in this area. Let’s truthfully read all that is before us, not just the juicy happy bits.

Prayer- Lord, don’t let us skip the hard parts but instead stick with all you offer to us. In Christ. Amen.
