No matter our political inclinations, our personal goals and aspirations, or even our religious beliefs, most Americans take pride in our nation.
We can remember a better day, a day where we felt safe and protected by a government that cared about its people. We attended schools where we learned about our founding, our history, and our concepts of good government. We saluted our flag, we treated it with respect, and we all knew every word of the Pledge of Allegience, including the now very controversial words, “under God.” We may have struggled with the words to The Star-Spangled Banner, but we still tried to sing it, and we always placed our hands over our hearts, feeling the sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears that went into the building of our great land.
Today, it is, sadly, a very different story.
It is a story of the people's will being ignored, and our best interests not of interest at all. We hear mean words spoken of our forefathers, and how our nation has never been a Judeo-Christian nation. We are continually aware of the 'separation of church and state', words which are not in the Constitution, at least, not stated in that manner. What it does say is that we are all free to worship in any way we choose. We are all equal.
Freedom of religion is an inherent concept of our country's founding. But today, it applies to everyone but Christians and Jews. In fact, if we publicly speak about Christ, or God, we are often laughed at, or openly ridiculed for our “fantasy.”
God tells us in Proverbs 14:34 if our country will return to righteousness, He will in turn exalt our nation. God has the power to override what our leaders and the liberal bent is doing to our democracy. He only asks that we turn from our wicked ways, seek His face, and He will heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
If we truly care, if we are truly Christians and Jews who love the Lord and honor Him and His law, then we will follow what He has said. We will pray, which means cry out to Him in Heaven. He promises He will hear us. We need to turn from our wicked ways, which are as simple as allowing sin to have it's way in our world. God tells us He will restore our nation if we will repent.
Let us gather together, as a nation, as a people, and pray. Pray for God to do these things. And pray specifically for our leaders, no matter that you like them or not, or voted for them or not. Pray for them! Pray for wisdom, for eyes to be opened, for honesty and truth to return. Pray for the people, ALL of them, regardless of religion, of race, creed, nationality. Our nation is a melting pot of all these things. And all these things are part and parcel of our America.
Let's give our nation, our land, our homes, our people, our very lives, back where they belong… in the wonderful, powerful, lawful, forgiving hands of the Lord of all. He is the Supreme Leader, and He is the only One who can exalt our land once again.
