The disciples have been fishing all night and caught nothing. Jesus appears on the beach and tells them where to fish and they get a big catch. When they got to the beach—they saw a fire of coals there and fish lying on it [cooking], and bread. Jesus said to them, bring some of the fish which you have just caught. (From John 21)
Jesus told the disciples to bring what they had to him BUT he didn’t use it. Instead, he gave them the same thing, already prepared. Whatever we bring to Jesus, he already has and it is better than what we brought him.
When we bring Jesus our raw fish, things like our raw emotions, plans and schemes, he always gives us something better in return.
Prayer- Lord, we thank you that you take what we give you, with grace, but we rejoice that you give us back something that you prepared instead. Amen.
