Oh the daffodils, purple phlox and hyacinths that abound in my garden! The robins are back and the cherry trees are in bloom. God’s thousand shades of green cover the landscape! A butterfly dances through the sunny air. NOT!
Yes it is the first day of spring BUT we are in snow still. What happened to the promise of spring? Well that is the thing. It is a promise, something to look forward to. At times like this I like to remember verses like this.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9 , NIV)
Spring faithfully arrives, sooner or later. The promise never fails…just like when God says…
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13, NIV)
Or when He adds…
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 1:20, NIV)
Prayer – Father God, thank you that your promises are true and forever! Amen
