Revelation 1:5b-7a–To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be the glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him (NIV).
And while we are seeing Him, He will be seeing us—
Our Sunday best is not so nice as our weekday best has been.
When we have a business meeting, we dress to be so ‘seen!’
Yet, coming to meet Jesus, and God the Father High,
We often choose the comfy and let respect go by.
Yes, fashions change and come and go, still modesty’s required.
Checking in our wardrobe, we should find just what’s desired.
Most business books declare ‘to dress for your position.’
For Christians that is Heaven. Are we dressing for Transition?
Job 1:21a says we were born naked and will depart the same way, but it says nothing about being half-naked in the meantime! Does our clothing reflect worldly fashion or heavenly modesty?
Prayer: Father God, some of our clothing covers too little of our bodies and too much of our hearts. Forgive us. Show us what to discard and how to dispose of it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
