I recently posted this question on Facebook. What do you remember from your childhood that a younger person wouldn’t understand?
Oh, what a variety of answers appeared. Several folks mentioned old TV shows like Fraggle Rock, Who’s the Boss and Romper Room.
Others spoke of party line phones attached to the wall, rabbit ears on the TV and telegram messages.
A few remembered popsicles for six cents each, individual ice creams served in a roll the size of toilet paper and white margarine.
A few bemoaned the days of no helmets, no computers and no eight-track cassettes.
No one mentioned their faith. I concluded that they didn’t know Jesus, or that He was the constant in their lives and needed no mention.
I thought that of all the items on all the lists, Jesus was the one unchangeable from then till now.
Of course, we do try to change Jesus into our own personal brand but he is the one and only true God, memorable through every generation, from the very past into the oncoming future.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change .( James 1:17)
