Sometimes, I read my scripture passage for the day and take it in with serene joy and peace. Other times I sense God correcting me and I strive for that. But sometimes I just break out in laughter! Consider this verse!
Deliver those who are drawn away to death, and those who totter to the slaughter, hold them back [from their doom]. (Proverbs 24:11, AMP)
The phrase ‘totter to the slaughter’ tickled my funny bone. Now it surely wasn’t funny to those who were wobbling to their end, but the poetry of it struck me as hilarious.
Other people are amused by things like the Ten Commandments; or Christ risen from the dead. Not so funny and the consequences are grim.
Prayer – Lord, give us the sense to know when to laugh and when to take you seriously. Amen
