The Bible lists lots of trained folks ranging from trained servants, to those trained for war, singing, engraving, and athletics. But we are also to train our children (Ephesians 6:4) and one another (Colossians 3:16). That’s not too hard. After all we are training someone else!
Then we come to 1 Timothy 4:7.
But refuse and avoid irreverent legends (profane and impure and godless fictions, mere grandmothers’ tales) and silly myths, and express your disapproval of them. Train yourself toward godliness (piety), [keeping yourself spiritually fit].
Oh, oh. How well are we doing on that one?
Here is your helper toward personal training success.
Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), (2 Timothy 3:16, AMP)
Maybe we’d be better starting with that one, before we take on other people! Being on the right track involves movement toward the goal.
Prayer – Lord, may we never presume that we are ever trained enough to graduate. Amen
