Our local grocery store rewards early shoppers with ‘turkey bucks’ to use toward the price of a turkey. My coupons were soon to expire so I went into the store to get our bird.
I noticed a rather forlorn lady lifting up one bird and than another. She seemed to be discouraged by the prices.
On the spur of the moment, I asked "Do you have any turkey bucks to pay for your turkey?"
She answered, "I don't even know what a turkey buck is."
I handed her mine and explained their purpose.
"Let me pay you the money," she exclaimed.
"No", I replied. “You enjoy them.”
Later, I saw her at the check out with a turkey in one hand, a handful of turkey bucks in the other hand and a huge smile on her face.
Oh, how delicious was that turkey I never ate. When we look for creative ways to help others, we serve the Christ.
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25:40, NIV)
Prayer- Thank you Father, for the opportunity to help those and serve you at the same time! Amen.
