Someone purports to have discovered two nails in the ossuary of the high priest, Caiaphas. Experts wonder if these very nails might have been used in the crucifixion of Christ. I'm asking different questions.
If these nails are what they seem to be, how did Caiaphas get them?
Did he visit the cross?
Did he pay others for a souvenir of the most newsworthy thing he did during his time of service?
Or did he keep two nails to remind him of his greatest failure?
Does this mean that he continued to plot and scheme against the faith?
Or does it mean that perhaps Caiaphas came to faith in Christ?
And then I wonder if this discovery will lead those demanding signs and wonders, to the Christ?
Or will it make Christ seem more human and therefore less Godly?
Will we begin to worship the nails themselves?
Or will we place our adoration where it must always be…..on the Christ?
Matthew 16:1-An evil and wanton generation is always wanting signs and wonders. The only sign you'll get is the Jonah sign.” Then he turned on his heel and walked away (MSG).
Prayer: Lord, you rose from the dead. What more proof could we possibly need? In Christ’s name. Amen
