It is too late to read the warning label on a sweater after you wash it and it shrinks. Ask me. I know. I found out the hard way.
Anyway, I got to wondering what my warning label says. When people see me on the street or driving my car or shopping, do they see happy, friendly Christ follower Brenda? Or do I look the part that I am feeling…something like get out of my way. You are driving too slowly. Why are you taking forever to make up your mind…just buy the oranges!
And if I was a bumper sticker, a mailing label or a computer password, do they speak of the person that I am in Christ or does my nasty old nature show up too often?
Well, I know the answer for me, unfortunately. Will you be honest and face up to your own labeling?
Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. …From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.
(From Colossians 3:9-11, MSG)
Prayer- Father, help us wear our label right side out with you in mind. Amen.
