Early in the morning the women went to the tomb and found… Jesus missing and two men in dazzling raiment suddenly standing beside them. (Luke 24:4, AMP) Where they angels? It appears so. Dazzling raiment was rare in those days.
I imagine Jesus talking to those fellows earlier and asking…”Hey guys, what took you so long,” while they tell him all about the rejoicing in heaven over his successful enduring on our behalf. Most certainly they would have rejoiced and prayed with thanksgiving.
And then those men in dazzling outfits waited to deliver the message.
- He (Jesus) is not here, but has risen! (Luke 24:6a, AMP)
- Remember!!!! (What a comfort when you can’t remember!)
- Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee -that the Son of Man must be given over into the hands of sinful men (men whose way or nature is to act in opposition to God) and be crucified and on the third day rise from death]. (Luke 24:6b, AMP)
Note: angels told this first of all to women, women who were the lowest of the low at that time.
And what happened? The women remembered his words! (Luke 24:8, AMP)
Have you taken those words into your heart? Do you understand that Jesus was crucified and then died and rose from the dead so that you might have forgiveness of sin and eternal life and the gift of the Holy Spirit?
Remember!
Prayer – Father, give us the courage to look beyond angels to the one true Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Amen
