Weighty Thanks

Oh yes, I paid my small homage to God somewhere on Thanksgiving weekend. Then I ate like crazy. Now Christmas is over and my weight is up and my thankfulness less visible. Are you in the same boat?

Have we ever thanked God for our ability to put on weight? I watched my husband lose weight and health over his last months on earth. He'd have been so delighted to put on a few pounds.

Shouldn’t we be thankful that our body is working as it should? It takes all those extra calories and stores them away on our body, exactly as it was designed to do.

Calories in = calories out = weight stays the same.

The only wrinkle in the equation is us and how we handle what goes into our mouth and what we burn off in exercise.

So with a clear conscience we can say “Thanks God for making us so well!! Our body is doing exactly what you designed it to do. Yay God!”

Psalm 139:14-I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well (KJV).

Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving us healthy bodies that work just as they are meant to do. And we ask for the common sense to control what goes into them. In Christ. Amen.
