Have you ever asked yourself this question? If everyone is leading, who is following? Hardly anyone writes a book about how to follow, but leaders? There are lots of those and lots of people who try to lead, even though they fail miserably.
The truth is we all have to follow someone. Even the President of a country is expected to follow a few wifely dictates like being home in time for dinner. And surely we are all following the Lord Jesus Christ, without demanding our own ways all the time… aren’t we? Oh, have I hit a sore spot now?
Followers follow. A follower is a servant, attendant or subordinate, usually one of many travelling with an important person. A follower is one who imitates or copies someone.
Well then, are we truly able to say that we are Christ followers under that definition? I hope so. It will be truly worth it in the long run.
They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.” (Revelation 17:14, NIV)
Prayer – Help us truly follow you, Lord. Amen
