Why Study the Bible

“I read it every day.” you say. “What more do you want of me?”

Well, friend, I want you to study because the Bible says so and because God wants you to understand what you read.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, NIV)

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
(2 Peter 1:20-21, NIV)

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. (James 1:22, 27, NIV)

Right now you might want to read the Book of Revelation and rejoice in the coming of Christ!

Prayer- Lord, show us where to begin as we study your word in depth. Amen.
