Christ in the Old Testament (Obedience)

Christ was our sacrifice and yes, that too was in the Old Testament before it was in the New. Remember there are about four hundred years between the writings.

The ministry of Malachi occurred about 420 BC and John the Baptist appeared in the early 1st century AD.  And in God timing, that is almost the same time distance as the Second Temple period (530 BC to 70 AD).

“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come, it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart” (See Psalm 40:6–8).

And the New version.

“First he said, ‘Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire. Then he said, ‘Here I am, I have come to do your will.’ He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (See Hebrews 10:5–10).

Jesus would prophecy. “I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know” (See Psalm 40:9).

And sure enough, “From that time on Jesus began to preach, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near'” (See Matthew 4:17).

Prayer- How great are you, God. And let all say, how great are you God! Amen.
