I don’t know if you know any of this stuff, but you might find it useful.
If you are setting a table for the kids, cover the table with brown paper instead of a pretty table cloth. Add crayons and let the little ones go to it.
The adults get their shrimp trays and fancy cheese bits but a tray of kid snacks like mini crackers and circle cereals will give them a tasty snack and keep them busy till dinner time
Paper plates aren’t very appetizing but you can set out heavier weight plastic sets for their use.
Lots of people dress up for Halloween, why not for Christmas? Give everyone wrapped prizes for the best elf or reindeer! That will help hold off the big gift extravaganza till after dinner.
Give them sparkly drinks like apple juice mixed with ginger ale.
Most of all enjoy your little ones. They will be big before you know it. Appreciate what you have before it turns into what you had.
Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. (Psalm 127:3a, NIV)
Prayer – Lord, thanks for reminding us how valuable our children really are. Amen
