We generally interpret Romans 15:1-2 to mean that we must help others.
We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. (Romans 15:1-2, NIV)
However, consider this for a moment. What if we are strong, yet sometimes falter? What if we need a hand and the hand is ours? What if looking after those around us, first depends on our choosing to do what is best for us?
Are we courageous enough to recognize our failings, take care of ourselves and if necessary, ask for some of that help that we so freely dole out to others?
Prayer- Lord help us to recognize and deal with our failings, not just for our own good, but for the good of others as well. Amen.
