Donut Fear

The tag line on the cartoon said “It’s so cold that I’m shaking like a couple of doughnuts at a weight loss meeting!”

What does that mean exactly? Most diet places I’ve been at don’t allow food with good reason! Dieters do love sweets and if they are at a weight loss meeting, they presumably have a week of careful deprivation behind them. That might explain the donuts’ fear.

However, the dieters I know would never ever eat in their meeting, especially in front of their peers or their leaders, so the donuts’ fear is ungrounded. Now if they were to be found in the deserted parking lot? All bets are off.

Have you ever suffered from that kind of irrational fear? Most of us have, at one time or another.  Even when we know in our hearts that it’s a waste of time and energy, we sometimes succumb.

What can we do to stop it? Repeat scriptures like this aloud and trust.

Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice. (Isaiah 41:10, AMP)

Prayer – Father God, help us to remember who is in charge, (YOU!), and that you always have our best interests at heart. Amen
