Eye of the Hurricane

Did you know some brave folks actually fly into the eye of a hurricane to collect its data so that the rest of us can be safe? Then weather experts change it into stuff we can understand… like TAKE SHELTER NOW!

When we listen, we have a better chance of surviving the storm.

Some still say, “Nah, I’ve been through lots of storms and this is just another one.” Sometimes, it really is their last one because they paid no heed.

In the religious life, those data collectors are our pastors and church leaders. They collect data from God’s word and pass it down to us. They warn us about scary situations and tell us how to avoid them. Sometimes they yell the same thing. TAKE SHELTER NOW!

But do we? No, we choose our own way and then wonder why everything we hold dear has disappeared.

Are you in the eye of a hurricane now? Will you take the advice of those who warn you where this mess could take you? Will you? Will you? TAKE SHELTER NOW!

As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” (Luke 8:25a, NIV)

Prayer – Father, help us heed the warnings. Amen
