Facing Our Giants

In this rush, rush, hurry, hurry, busy world that we live in today, it isn’t uncommon to be faced with troubles, situations and trials that can sometimes feel gigantic.

Recently I was faced with something that made me feel like David must have felt and my situation, much like that of Goliath! I had no control over this situation that had suddenly occurred in my life. After worrying for a while as most people do, after all we’re only human…I decided to reread the familiar Bible story about how David slew the giant with his sling, a stone and help from God.

As I read the story I begin to think about how we are all faced with our own giants, whether it is a habitual habit, disagreeable people, finances, or family problems. This list could go on forever as we do have to live in a world where we are all faced with many temptations, troubles and various situations that we may have very little, if any control of much like David.

After reading the story I felt revived as I was also reminded that we also have something else in common with David…we have the promises of God to help us in our times of trouble, much like he did David and our giants too shall fall if we place our trust in Him.

Psalms 34:6–This poor man cried, and the LORD heard [him], and saved him out of all his troubles.

  1. God has a way of confirming our thoughts, ideas, and what we feel is answers to our situations. After this blog was written, our pastor delivered a very inspiring sermon about “Facing our Giants” Yes God truly is amazing!
