The Canadian Food Guide divides our foods into 4 main sections. They are:
- vegetables and fruit
- grain products
- milk and milk alternatives
- meat and meat alternatives
My friend says there is another food group called guilt. It is the one that all dieters use when they overeat or enjoy something that is not on their food list.
I suggest to you that Christians use it a lot too, oh maybe not over ice cream or cheesecake, but over their misunderstanding of the forgiveness and grace that God offers us every single day, hour and minute.
This verse sounds frightening but it need not be. All you have to do is confess your sin and ask God to forgive you. THEN, however, you must accept that forgiveness as it is offered, with no strings attached but Jesus.
Anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Master irreverently is like part of the crowd that jeered and spit on him at his death. Is that the kind of “remembrance” you want to be part of? Examine your motives, test your heart, and come to this meal in holy awe. (1 Corinthians 11:27, MSG)
