Live Below the Line

Billions of people live on less than $1.75 per day.  Today I challenge you to join them and live below the poverty line for 5 days, if you dare. By doing this and donating the difference in your food bill, you help feed hungry people around the world. To sign up or donate, click here.

Hint: it is easier to involve several people. A family of 4 could spend $7.00 a day, allowing the purchase of food in bulk form.

Hint: the web page offers lots of helpful shopping tips.

Hint: the web site provides several tasty, low-cost recipes.

Hint: this year’s challenge ends June 20, 2015

Hint: this is something Jesus likes.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why:

I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’ (Matthew 25:34-36, MSG)

Prayer – Lord we are more anxious about our extra 20 pounds than the blight of the starving. Thank you for making a way for us to make a small difference right where we are. Amen
