With the freedom of the Israelites underway, Pharaoh realizes that Egypt is losing all its servants. (Exodus 14:5) With only a few minutes of freedom under their belts, the Israelites revert to their familiar of fear and subservience the minute the Egyptians start after them.
"It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” (Exodus 14:12b, NIV) they cried.
They thought their past had to be better than an unknown future…until Moses reminded them of their future and how to make it different from their past. (Exodus 14:13-14, NIV)
- Do not be afraid.
- Stand firm.
- The Lord will deliver you.
- The Lordwill fight for you
- You need only to be still.
What part of your past is negating your future? God’s advice still stands!
Prayer- Lord, thank you that all we have to do is stand firm while you deliver us. May we never choose past fears over of a future of freedom in Christ. Amen.
